About Ms. Gable
New to Cape in 2024, Mirella Gable is thrilled to join the music program as the elementary band director at all five elementary schools!
Originally from southern New Jersey, Miss Gable relocated to the Southern Great Plains for post-graduate study and then spent 14 years working as a professional instrumentalist and educator in Kansas and Oklahoma. A classically trained French hornist, Miss Gable is former member of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, and Oklahoma City Philharmonic and taught in higher education as an adjunct professor at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in Weatherford, OK and the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in Edmond, OK. As a passionate educator, Miss Gable cultivated a large private horn studio in the Oklahoma City area and hosted yearly masterclasses and events for her 40+ students. She also served as the Lead Brass Teacher and Horn teacher for El Sistema Oklahoma from 2017-2021 and worked with several youth orchestra programs and all state honor ensembles in Kansas and Oklahoma. Other past appointments include teaching at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, East Central University in Ada, OK, and Bethel College in Newton, KS.
Miss Gable is a current member of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta and spends six weeks in the summers performing in the Adirondack paradise of upstate New York. In the Mid-Atlantic, she frequently subs in orchestras including the Delaware Symphony, York Symphony, and Lancaster Symphony. In her limited spare time, Miss Gable enjoys cultivating her green thumb and indulging in video games and poorly made B movies. Miss Gable lives in Milton with her horn-playing husband, James Rester, and their spoiled kitties, Bilbo and Lily. Miss Gable earned a Master's degree in Horn Performance from Wichita State University (2014) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Horn and Music Education from the Eastman School of Music (2010), where she was also awarded a Performer’s Certificate.
